Sophomore: McFarland High School Football-Basketball-Track Finished the Season with 15 Touchdowns. Ran the 100 yd. dash, 220 yd. dash & First leg in the 440 relay.

1966 Junior: McFarland High School Football- Basketball-Track (last year at McFarland) All-District Offense & Defense. Finished the Season with 26 Touchdowns.

1967 Senior: Mineola High School (First & Last Yr.)
Football-Basketball-Track- All East Texas Offense & Defense- Six Touchdowns in One Game. Finished the Season with 23 Touchdowns.

1967 Air Force: Completed basic training at Lackland AFB. Played Football & Basketball for 2 yrs. in the Air Force.

Married to Novada Stephens from Mineola and they have three children, Vivian, Paula & J.P. Jr.

He is employed with Kelly Springfield Tire Co. of Tyler, Tx. as a Final Finish Tire Inspector. Inducted 1998
